Bright highlights in bronze, white, silver and gold were softly sculpted or sharply injected across the face. Rust and earth pigments gave sun-baked warmth to bones and soot dust intensified eyes. Calvin Klein models were bare faced but still mildly bronzed and at Givenchy, an earthier feel with toasty blush dusted over the cheeks and temples of goddesses.
A combination of copper and pearly white highlights sculpted the face to beautiful effect at Giorgio Armani, thanks to Pat McGrath, who reinterpreted the theme at Donna Karan as an iridescent wash over models’ eyes, teamed with gleaming skin and muted pink lips. At Emanuel Ungaro, Val Garland created “smokey eyes in caramel and toffee colours”.
At Warren Noronha, Sharon Dowsett dubbed her look “graphic angelic”. Bright white and opal pigments graduated from eyelashes and lids through brows: a strong shape in a soft colour. At John Richmond, Dowsett painted a thin “spacey but sporty” silver visor. At Versus, a steely sci-fi band blended into black cat’s eyes.
