Good base make-up conceals imperfections, helping us feel confident about facing the world. Plus it should care for our skin without looking like we're wearing anything. So I always love trying new primers, foundations and concealers. Here's some I've been experimenting with lately...
Chanel's new Pro Lumiere foundation is a great one. A little blends a long way to a sheer, smoothing base. The semi matte finish is perfect - no need for much powder. Dior's new Icone Photo Perfect Creme-To-Powder foundation has a creamy liquid formula rather than the traditional compact so coverage is lighter but with a velvety feel. The translucent shade really gives pale skin a luminous (not sparkly) glow and a little worn as a primer or mixed with foundation brightens darker skin tones. Shu Uemura's UV Underbase (one of my all time faves) is now available in a cream but lacks any sun protection. Best for winter when skin needs a little more nourishment and isn't too tanned as it's slightly pink toned. Dior's new spray on Airflash foundation is one I still have to try. I'm not yet convinced with this style of application. What do you think? Also, now that most brands are doing pen style highlighters/concealers, has anybody found one that compares with YSL's Radiant Touch? I like the two shades of Laura Mercier's Secret Brighteners but the shimmer means it's strictly for highlighting, not concealing blemishes. What new base favourites have you discovered? We'd love to hear which new products are working for you and get your skin looking naturally flawless.
